Author’s Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang 2012. For those unfamiliar with the HDM universe, I've written a brief, non-spoilery primer here. This is part of my with daemons verse, but as the other fics act as prequels to this one, previous knowledge is not necessary.

Into This Wild Abyss Master Post
jacyevans: (alexis // adorbs)
I came to the unfortunate decision today that I won't be participating in [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang this year. I'm thrilled with my idea, but things just did not come together in time and while I could probably bang out the necessary words for another fic I had on the back burner, I know it would be rushed. I made that mistake last year, and refuse to do so again. I want to devote the necessary time to getting both of them right.

I'll admit I'm disappointed - this is the first time since 2009 that I won't be participating - but ultimately, I know it's for the best.

[livejournal.com profile] sailthouforth and [livejournal.com profile] geckoholic, your input the past few weeks was invaluable, and I'm definitely not abandoning the fic. It will just have to keep for a while. I'm hoping that I can look at it with fresh eyes and come back swinging.

However, I am still participating in [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang. The first draft of that should go out to my artist and my betas this week. So, upside.
jacyevans: (sam/alexis // mercy be revealed)
Today is going to be a good day. I'm going out for a friend's birthday to Flushing Meadow Park, where I haven't been in years. The weather is a bit dreary, but it's supposed to be warm, at least. No idea what exactly we're doing yet, but there's so much to do over there that it should be fun either way. I need to see if I can pick up a new memory card for my camera on the way out there (something weird happened to the formatting of mine.)

Artist claims go up for [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang this afternoon, and as usual, I am a mess of anticipation, excitement, and panic. Part of me cannot wait, the other part is all BUT WHAT IF NO ONE WANTS MY FIC? At least I'll be out all day so I can't sit in front of the computer and click refresh on the claims post all afternoon.

Not that I've done that before.

Nope.

Never.
jacyevans: (i can has muse?)
Just broke 8,000 words on my [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang. I realized today that for a fic that is All About Sam, there is a definite lack of him in the first half. It makes sense to some degree, given his state of mind at this point in the fic, but I'll worry more about it during the next draft.

I'm having some trouble focusing on my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang right now, so I think I'm going to finish the first draft of this one and then move onto that so I don't have to split my attention. My brain is pretty firmly rooted in this verse right now anyway.

If this fic doesn't end up breaking 15k, I'll be shocked.
jacyevans: (i can has muse?)
Schedules for [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang and [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang have gone up. SO EXCITED. SO READY.

Bring on the crazy! :D
jacyevans: (BIG BANG SAY WHAT?)
So, I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang again this year. And [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang. Because clearly, I like to flail around for deadlines.

Someone hold me?

(Did I mention I still have to finish my fic for [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang? *headdesk* Two weeks and counting.)

I'm still as of yet undecided as to which fic I'm writing for both, which is making me a bit nervous, but I figure I'll wing it for a while, and then see which one I feel like I can do more with.

My ideas. Cut for those who don't want to read my insanity-induced ramblings. )

Never again.

Never fucking again.

One big bang is enough, and I went and signed up for two. AT ONCE. Because I am insane.

I am happy with what I accomplished, but seriously? NEVER. AGAIN. I don't think I've ever felt this rushed to finish a fic. Ever. And I almost forgot about the soundtrack, which seriously? Not good.

After June 14th (and that, that right there? *panics*), I swear to God, I am not touching fanfiction for at least a week. A month. And I don't even want to SEE the words big bang.

And you won't have to see them again in any of my entries, either until next year WHEN THERE WILL BE ONLY ONE.

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick...

Dear Supernatural,Spoilers for last night's episode. Really, just a lot of big bang related ranting. )

*breathes*

So, yes. Clearly, I am having big bang issues. My [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang fic is due tomorrow and I am almost at 20,000. Really, it's not the word count I'm worried about this time around, it's actually getting the fic finished to a degree where I can submit it and send it to an artist where it actually makes sense. I'm a lot closer to that point that I thought I was once I type up the scenes I have handwritten in notebooks, but I still have a ways to go.

I forsee a long night of flailing tomorrow and a repeat of last year with getting in just over under the wire. [livejournal.com profile] dream_mancer, let's break out The Rocket Summer and the NIN and get crackin' on these suckers.

And I still have my [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang to finish by Monday. Lord... next year, if I even try to sign up for more than one big bang at the same time? Remind me of this moment. AND STOP ME.

I just sent my [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang fic off to the mods.

It isn't finished - nearly there, but it is most definitely a first draft. As of right now, it clocks in at 19,588 words. I figure about 25k by the time I'm completely done.

Dear Alexis,

You are wordy and maniacal and controlling and a part of me hates you but the rest of me loves you.

Just so you know.

Me

If anyone is interested, here is my fic summary. ) The fic is a Sam/Alexis Supernatural/Castle crossover.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] dream_mancer for getting me through this past week, and to [livejournal.com profile] nantahala for talking me off of the ledge *loves you both*

AND CONGRATS TO LAURA, TOO! *throws confetti* :D [livejournal.com profile] darkmerrick, are you in on this party as well?

So, today started out badly - I got to the bus stop just to realize that my metrocard was not in my pocket. I pretty much ran all the way home, didn't find it in the street - not that I was expecting to - or anywhere in my house. This is a problem as I buy monthly metrocards and this one was still good until practically the end of April. So, after much tossing things about, I finally gave up, grabbed the bus fare in quarters, and headed back out.

Then, I couldn't figure out where I left my keys. Back downstairs to grab them off of the dresser. Then, it started to rain, and I didn't have my umbrella. Back inside the house and downstairs to grab it from my room. Somehow, I still made it to work by 9. I'm still not sure how I accomplished that.

By 10, I was jittery, anxious, and all around not feeling well - all signs that point to a cup of coffee that was definitely not decaf, despite what I told the man behind the counter at the deli. I ended up with a migraine by the afternoon.

Luckily, my dad called with some good news - we have a grandfather clock in our living room. My metrocard fell between the clock and our entertainment center. I don't even know how that happened - my best guess is it flew out while I was pulling my keys out of my coat pocket or putting my ipod in. He found it while he was chasing after one of my cats on his way out the door. This is a huge relief as it is 89 bucks I most definitely do not have that I don't have to pay again now.

That and the following sentence posted by the mods on [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang today made my day brighter:
Your rough draft needs to be either 15,000 words and completed, or at least 10,000 words with more than 80% of the fic done.

THANK THE DEAR AND FLUFFY LORD. Because there is less than two weeks left, and I am already scrambling to figure out where the hell my plot is supposed to go. Watching the entire first season of Castle was not as helpful in prompting the muse as I was hoping it would be, and this week's episode just put new ideas in my head. Which is also not at all helpful. Ugh.

This past weekend, I visited [livejournal.com profile] anythingbutgrey in DC, and it was awesome. We marathoned all of the Jo and Katie!Ruby episodes of Supernatural - because only we would be crazy enough to do something like this - and ate cupcakes. And reminisced on the absolute epic win of Season 2. And shamelessly loved on the kick-ass females.

Generally, we just flailed a lot.

And ended up walking for three hours around DC on Saturday - which was completely unplanned.

We're just that awesome?

Suffice to say I didn't want to leave :(
