jacyevans: (dean/ruby // being human)
I've been working on this fic since July, and I am so happy to finally be able to post it as this is probably one of my favorite fics to date. Written for [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang.

Title: A Twisting Line
Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: R
Pairing/Characters: Dean/Ruby, Sam
Warnings: AU after Season 3
Word Count: 10,000
Summary: When Dean returns from hell, he has no recollection of how he escaped, and the only living souls in sight are possessed. Sam is seemingly beyond redemption, Ruby is his sole navigator in a changed and barren world, and Dean struggles with his memories of his time in the pit, still unsure of how and why he was brought back. These reasons become irrelevant when Dean comes to the realization that maybe, just maybe, he can still save Sam. That has always been enough.

My [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang is in need of more editing than I initially realized.

Shit.

10,029 WORDS.

23 PAGES.

[livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang: COMPLETE. DONE.

*flails* I AM SO HAPPY, I WOULD MOCK KERMIT IF I WASN'T SO EXHAUSTED.

I would never have gotten through this if it wasn't for [livejournal.com profile] dream_mancer cheering me on tonight ♥ ♥

The tentative summary, for anyone who might be interested:

Dean returns from hell with no recollection of how he escaped, and the only living souls in sight are possessed. With Sam seemingly beyond redemption and Ruby as his sole navigator in a changed world, the question of how or why he was brought back is irrelevant because maybe, just maybe, he can still save Sam. That's always been enough. (Dean/Ruby, Sam/Ruby)

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go collapse.

I just spent the last twenty minutes thinking I lost 1,000 words of work on my apocabigbang - for some reason, the Word file didn't save.

Then, I remembered I copy and pasted the whole thing into a google doc. So the formatting is fucked, but at least all of the words are there.

8132 / 10000 words. 81% done!

SO. CLOSE. I still have no idea where 1900 words are going to come from, beyond the scenes I still have to finish.

BUT I WILL FIND THEM. I CAN DO IT!

In other news, my computer is currently spazzing, and I don't know why, so I am working in Safe Mode. Time to run the bajillion virus scans again.

7019 / 10000 words. 70% done!

My word goal for today was 7000 words, so I am happy :) I'm just praying I can get another 3,000 words out of this thing without trying too hard or making it seem like I'm dragging things out.

So, I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang again this year. And [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang. Because clearly, I like to flail around for deadlines.

Someone hold me?

(Did I mention I still have to finish my fic for [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang? *headdesk* Two weeks and counting.)

I'm still as of yet undecided as to which fic I'm writing for both, which is making me a bit nervous, but I figure I'll wing it for a while, and then see which one I feel like I can do more with.

My ideas. Cut for those who don't want to read my insanity-induced ramblings. )

Instead of working on my NaNo, I am working on my [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang. I have spurts where I am ridiculously blocked, and then all of a sudden, I am writing pieces and ridiculously excited over it again.

3084 / 10000 words. 31% done!

Today was an excited day (yes, relevant icon is relevant ;)) Ironically, it sort of dovetails this season of Supernatural in a way I wasn't meaning to/did not realize it would when I started it in July.

--

In other news, is anyone else watching Boardwalk Empire? What do you think of it? I finally caught up on the past two episodes, and I am loving it.
